I have hunted with friends from Washington & Oregon for over 25 years.  Even when working overseas in London and Brussels, I flew back to the US each year to hunt with our group.... obviously, I love pheasant hunting.  We had hunted South Dakota for about 10 years, and decided to find a new place.  The group took a year off and designated me to select the new place.  I looked at about 25-30 ranches, lodges etc. on the internet and selected 3 places to visit and hunt with my yellow lab.  A1 Al's Pheasant Ranch was selected and we couldn't be happier.
 
We have hunted two seasons with Brady Terveen, owner of A1 Al's.  The hunting has been great, limiting every day in a relatively short period of time, allowing us time to visit Cabela's which is less than 30 minutes away.  The terrain we can hunt varies from corn, to sorghum, to grass lands.  The lodge is a converted farm house which is very comfortable.  We especially like the large hunters' room, where we can come in in hunting gear without messing up the whole house.  The hunters' room has a bar, pool table, boot dryers, card table and chairs, plus regular table and chairs, and a flat screen TV.  We plan to be back next year.

We changed guide services this year and knew the minute we met the staff at Al's A1 Pheasant Ranch that we had made a wise choice. Everyone was extremely accommodating and all the guides went well beyond their responsibilities, sometimes working harder than the dogs. We saw plenty of birds, ate fantastic food, and shared a wonderful hunting experience. No one in our group of 10 had a complaint and we have already booked for next year. Thanks everyone.
